
Job Description
Under the supervision of the board of directors, the Executive Director (ED) will be the chief executive
responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic planning of the Education and Leadership Foundation. They are responsible for effectively leading and supporting staff, providing fiscal oversight & responsibility, and developing and growing the impact of our program services. This dynamic and impactful role requires strong leadership, management skills, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, donors, and partners.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATION, & SKILLS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Education and/or Work Experience - Minimum of 5-7 years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or educational setting. Proven experience in fundraising, including securing grants,s and cultivating donor relationships. Experience managing and leading a team of professionals.
Expertise in program & service areas - Familiarity with educational programs, leadership development, immigration services, and community engagement.
Emotional & Cultural Competency - demonstrated ability to work with people of differing abilities, backgrounds, and language needs.
Strong Leadership and Organizational Skills - with the ability to lead with vision and integrity
Bilingual & Bi-literate in English and Spanish - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders in both English and Spanish
Project Management - Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously
Strategic thinking - with experience in developing and implementing long-term plans
External Relations - demonstrated ability to build partnerships and represent an organization to external stakeholders Financial acumen - with experience in budget management and resource allocation
Duties/Responsibilities
Board & Governance
● Work under the direction and recommendation of the Board of Directors, to ensure effective governance and the alignment of the Foundation’s activities with its mission and vision.
● Provide timely and accurate information to the Board to help inform their decisions and oversight.
● Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new board members and provide ongoing support to the Board in its duties.
Staff & Organizational Development
● Supervise and mentor a team of dedicated staff, fostering a positive work culture.
● Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of staff members.
● Develop and manage an organizational structure that supports the efficient functioning of ELF’s programs and operations.
● Ensure that all staff have clear expectations and are accountable for performance.
● administering internal activities, leading policy development, and participating in employment and administrative policy decisions. The first description touches on supervision and mentoring but lacks the detailed breakdown of HR functions.
Financial Performance & Viability
● Lead the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, including securing grants, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships.
● Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to support ELF’s programs and operations.
● Ensure the effective use of the Foundation’s resources by preparing annual budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors, sponsors, and supporters.
● Create project budgets, quarterly financial reports, and oversee program budgets for relevant stakeholders.
Leadership & Strategy
● Provide visionary leadership to guide ELF in achieving its mission and long-term goals.
● Develop and execute the Foundation’s strategic initiatives in collaboration with the Board of Directors and staff.
● Establish and maintain effective relationships with the community, educators, government entities, and funding sources to build strategic partnerships.
● Represent ELF publicly in media, at events, and in meetings with key stakeholders.Enhance ELF’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, social, and traditional media, and community organizations.
● Promote and nurture a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and excellence within the organization.
Community Engagement, Public Relations, & Advocacy
● Act as a key ambassador for ELF, building relationships with community leaders, local organizations, schools, and other stakeholders.
● Advocate within the public and private sectors for issues relevant to ELF.
● Advocate for education and leadership development initiatives at local, regional, and state levels.
● Maintain an active presence in the Fresno community to understand the evolving needs and opportunities related to ELF’s work.
● Promote equity and inclusion of communities of color through advocacy, organizing, movement building and public policy.
Program Development, Operations, & Management
● Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of all ELF programs and services.
● Ensure alignment of programs with ELF’s mission, values, and community needs.
● Develop metrics and measures to track the effectiveness and impact of programs.
● Evaluate program outcomes, making recommendations for improvements and innovations as necessary.
● Ensure confidentiality, compliance, safety, and quality improvement activities across all programs & services.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work Environment, Conditions & Requirements:
● Work generally takes place within an office environment. Air quality is good, with typically adequate lighting at desks/workstations. Occasionally, they will be expected to perform work duties in outdoor spaces during events or services related to outreach, walk-ins, high-demand service days, etc.
● Noise conditions are moderate and limited to self and others on telephone calls and general interactions with coworkers and the public.
● When performing most job duties, they will work in a private office space with a designated workspace
● At times, they may be required to provide coverage or support in shared working environments.
● Works independently on day-to-day tasks and works collaboratively alongside other staff, volunteers, contractors, or interns as needed.
● Travel is required to attend conferences, meet with stakeholders, etc.
● Schedule - Typical work hours will be between 8-5 PM, with events on evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
● able to hear staff on the phone and those served in person and speak clearly to communicate information to patients and staff.
● able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.
● able to use fingers and hands to type on a keyboard or phone, print or scan documents, etc.
