
Job Description
The Junior Counselor will assist Camp Counselors in implementing camp activities and creating a safe,
engaging, and fun environment for students. This role serves as a supportive team member in delivering
high-quality educational and recreational experiences.

Job Duties & Responsibilities include:
Assist Camp Counselors in planning and executing daily camp activities.
Provide direct support and supervision to children throughout all camp sessions.
Promote positive interactions, encourage friendships, and act as a positive role model for students.
Foster a fun, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants.
Ensure adherence to all camp safety guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity space, including care of equipment and supplies.
Collaborate with fellow staff to support camp-wide activities and ensure smooth daily operations.
Participate in required training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to the role.
Confidentiality/Privacy compliance - Treats all student and employee information as sensitive and
confidential. Responsible for maintaining compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements
where applicable.
Compliance - Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Reliable means of transportation to and from work

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Education
Must be currently enrolled in High School at FUSD School.
Experience
Enthusiasm for working with children in a camp setting.
Skills
Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from senior staff.
Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to lead by example.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Space: when performing administrative tasks, they will work in a shared, open space without a designated workspace and shared work equipment for administrative tasks. When performing physical tasks, they might be exposed to outdoor temperatures & elements, outdoor noises in an urban environment.

Team Dynamics: Collaborates with other staff, volunteers, contractors, or fellows to support and oversee the students ensuring safety.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, and push up to 50 pounds on wheels.
Must be able to read memos, computer screens, parent communications and documents.
Must have high manual dexterity and ability to move around a room to provide supervision to children.
Must be able to reach above the shoulder level, be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.
Must be able to participate in indoor/outdoor activities, games, and physical activities for extended periods of time.
