Job Description

The Outreach Specialist provides outreach services for community members experiencing the most significant health and social inequities and provides them with culturally relevant resources. The Outreach Specialist will work directly with the Special Projects Manager to facilitate and execute all designated community relations and community outreach events. Through peer-to-peer engagements, door-to-door canvassing, community canvassing, phone banking, workshop training, and outdoor booth tabling. The Outreach Specialist Team Member is responsible for informing residents in Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, and other counties of available resources. The Outreach Specialist Team Member is a trusted community member who collaborates with the Special Projects Manager, ELF staff, ELF partners, and other Outreach Specialist Team Members to ensure the proper information and resources reach the community.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATION, & SKILLS:


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

●      High School equivalency (diploma or GED)

●      Valid CA driver’s license, Proof of auto insurance required, Reliable transportation

●      Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish & English

●      Customer-focused and service-oriented

●      Ability to quickly engage individuals

●      Attention to detail and excellent follow-through on work tasks

●      Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

●      Strong organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and team skills

●      Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

●      MS Office suite proficient (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).

●      Regularly exhibits flexibility and dependability in work and working relationships

●      Demonstrated good problem-solving skills and sound judgment


Additional Duties:

  • Confidentiality/Privacy compliance- Treats all client, member, and employee information as sensitive and confidential

  • Quality Improvement- Participate in quality improvement activities and contribute towards the overall performance improvement of the department and organization

  • Safety - All employees will participate in the ELF safety program


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Environmental Conditions:

  1. Physical Space: a shared, open office space with a designated workspace and issued work computer for in-office administrative tasks.

  2. Company Culture: a collaborative, multilingual staff supporting different organizational functional needs.

  3. Team Dynamics: works alongside other staff, volunteers, contractors, or interns to support evolving community outreach & support needs.

  4. Travel - required to in-person events in Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, and other counties as needed.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).

  • Must hear staff on the phone and those served in person and speak clearly to communicate information to patients and staff.

  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.

  • Must have high manual dexterity.

  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn
