Farewell message from Executive Director, Mario A. Gonzalez

Dear friends, supporters, and families:

It is with a heavy heart that I share that my time as Executive Director of the Education and Leadership Foundation (ELF) will come to an end on Friday, September 11, 2026. My decision to leave was one of the hardest in my career and I wanted to personally share the news with you.

Since joining ELF, I have had the privilege of working alongside a dedicated team and together, we have strengthened and grown the organization while remaining committed to the students, individuals, and families we serve. I am proud of all that we have accomplished and grateful for the lessons I have learned from my colleagues and the challenges encountered along the way.

During this transition, while the Board of Directors continues its search for a new Executive Director, Board Chair Dr. Ambar Alvarez Soto and Board Member Maria Lemus will serve as points of contact for administrative matters, and Cecelia Jimmeye will be available to assist with finance-related questions.

These are challenging times, particularly for our immigrant families and I encourage you to continue supporting, partnering with, and believing in ELF and its mission to empower underrepresented communities.
