The Education and Leadership Foundation had the privilege of conducting two week-long day camps for Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) students in late December 2023 and early January 2024. The program was centered around art, particularly pottery and clay.

ELF proposed this specific program to FUSD because ELF believes that art can help children and youth develop a sense of their own individuality and an appreciation for others’ work.

This supplements what is often regarded as traditional education/academia, while providing an outlet for the students to enjoy themselves and have social interactions that they may not have in the privacy of their homes.

During the two sessions, ELF hosted 60+ total students and capped each week with an art show for the students to display their art for their parents.

“On behalf of ELF, we would like to thank FUSD for entrusting us to provide this program for local elementary school students, and we would like to thank the parents and students for supporting the concept and enrolling. We would also like to recognize ELF staff and the many student fellows who worked diligently to make both sessions a resounding success.” Alejandra Santos, Education Services Coordinator
